Extra RoomA fantasy, I suppose, but I've been in old houses like this in historic Colorado, and this painting is not as far removed from reality as one might think. Before development, before condos and superhighways, they were pretty common. They still exist, on some old ranches and farms. They were built to last, then added onto as families grew, and extra room was needed. Print Size: 24"x 18"

Ivy LeagueI have always loved the names of Western landmarks - the Snake River, the Flat Top Mountains, the Frying Pan River, and the Bitterroots, all named by frontier people, and they add much to the romance of the West. Equally intriguing is the Collegiate Peaks Range, part of which I've captured here. It lies north of Monarch Pass, and east of Leadville, and include in it's honor roll Mt. Princeton (here on the left) and it's neighbor, Mt. Yale. Print Size:

ClassicsI took a photograph of this stream on a hiking trip in the Wind River Wilderness Area in Wyoming. The incredible rush of crystal clear water that a few hours ago was still snow is a Rocky Mountain classic. When I began creating the interior of the mountain house in this painting, the idea of putting other American classics in the scene stayed with me. "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman and "The Way West" by A.B. Guthrie were simply two of the many possibilities that felt comfortable here. -- Print
